In 1996 hebben Liesbet, mijn vriendin, en ik 4
maanden gewoond in Tashkent, Oezbekistan (Centraal
Azië). We reisden daar veel, vooral naar de
prachtige steden Samarkand en Bouchara, samen ooit
het hart van de zijderoute en centrum van de islamitische
beschaving.
Mijn foto's en reisverhalen
zijn opgenomen in Ben Vroom: De erfenis van Timur
Lenk, dat in 2000 verscheen. Dit boek (initiatief
van ontwerpbureau Metaform)
is verkozen tot één van de Best
Verzorgde Boeken 2000.

In 1996 Liesbet, my girlfriend, and I lived for
4 months in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (Central Asia).
We travelled a lot, especially to the beautiful
cities of Samarkand and Buchara, the heart of the
former Silk Road and for many centuries one of the
centres of islamic culture and science.
My photo's and travel stories have been published
in the book Ben Vroom: De erfenis van Timur Lenk
(The Inheritance of Tamerlane). This book
is released in 2000 and won the price of Best
Dutch Book Design 2000.
